Recommendation
That Council approves the implementation of Traffic Order 1308 "Bus Stop Parking Restriction" at 520 Comerford Street, as set out in Staff Report EPW-19-026.

BACKGROUND:
Recently the property at 520 Comerford Street was purchased for use as a Community Living Care Facility. The facility offers a variety of programs for those with mobility challenges. Due to these challenges, the property will be receiving some patients via BC Transit (i.e. handyDART) and other similarly equipped buses. In order to facilitate easy access to the facility, the property owner has requested that a bus stop restriction be instituted along the frontage of the property. The south portion of Comerford Street is residential only parking and the north section does not have any parking restrictions except for a short segment on the northeast side. ISSUES:
1. Rationale for Selected Option
Staff has reviewed this request and is in agreement with instituting this parking restriction. The primary mode of transportation for users of the facility will be either small unit transportation from BC Transit, or similar buses from private contractors. By creating this restriction, a parking space should be available in front of the facility allowing for easier access for users. Since the northern section has only a minor restriction, users of on-street parking have a number of remaining spaces for parking.
