RECOMMENDATION:

 

Recommendation

That Council adopts the 2019 Esquimalt Fire Department Annual Report as attached to Staff Report FIRE-20-002.

STRATEGIC RELEVANCE:

 

Support the Chief Administrative Officer to maintain an organizational culture of collaboration, learning and engagement consistent with the Township’s core values.

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The Esquimalt Fire Department prepares an annual report that outlines a summary of administrative, prevention and operational activities. The purpose of the annual report also summarizes various types of emergency responses and associated performance benchmarks that are forwarded to the Fire Underwriters Survey.

 

The 2019 Esquimalt Fire Department Annual Report (Attachment No. 1) was prepared based on the above noted criteria. Once adopted, this Annual Report will be posted to the municipal website and a hard copy will be made available at the municipal hall for public viewing.

 

ISSUES: 

 

1.  Rationale for Selected Option

 

The preparation of this report is intended to make public an overview of fire department activities during 2019.

 

 

 

 

 

2.  Organizational Implications

 

The Annual Report is the means by which our fire department can report to the public on the previous year’s accomplishments. In addition, it will provide performance measurements to the Fire Underwriters Survey on specific improvements.

There are no sustainability or environmental implications.

 

5Communication & Engagement 

 

The Annual Report will be posted on the municipal website and made available to the public in a hard copy at the municipal hall. In addition, a copy will be forwarded to the Canadian Fire Underwriters Survey.

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

1.                     That Council adopts the 2019 Esquimalt Fire Department Annual Report attached as Appendix 1 to Staff Report No. FIRE-20-002.

 

2.                     That Council adopts the 2019 Esquimalt Fire Department Annual Report, as amended.
