RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation
That Council instruct staff to bring forward the suggested revisions to the OCP (Schedule "A") for Council's consideration at second reading of the OCP bylaw and further advise staff if they have any additional concerns related to the formatting and textual granularity.

STRATEGIC RELEVANCE:

The review of the OCP's formatting and textual granularity is related to Council's operational strategy to, "Adopt and implement updated OCP including all DP Guidelines."

BACKGROUND:

At their March 26, 2018 regular meeting, Council expressed concern about formatting irregularities and inconsistent textual granularity within the proposed OCP and asked that staff return to Council before second reading with suggested revisions to both formatting and text to make the OCP more internally consistent.

Staff have reviewed the OCP and made the following changes:

- The wording of the objectives has been made consistent;
- Consistent spacing has been made throughout the document;
- All capitalization has been made consistent;
- Use of quotations has been made consistent;
- The numbering system has been revised so that the hierarchy of numbers represents a consistent hierarchy of text;
- The OCP icon has been added to the footer;
- Orphaned text has been fixed;
- The bar graphs have been updated;
- The Corporate logo on the cover has been updated;
- There is now a consistent use of bullets vs numerals;
- All Roman numerals have been replaced by standard numbering;
- Hyphen use has been corrected throughout;
