BACKGROUND:

In early 2016, the Township received a Traffic Control Review report (EPW-16-001). This report was sponsored by ICBC and the Township with the work being completed by a professional engineer/traffic engineer with an external consultant. The objective of the Project was to undertake a comprehensive review of traffic signs and road markings within the Township of Esquimalt.

The location in question is the intersection of Gosper Crescent (front of 1090) and Gosper Crescent. This is a "T" intersection with no traffic controls on Gosper Crescent (front of 1090) and Gosper Crescent. Normally the east/west legs would be considered the major legs with the north leg being labelled the minor leg. Traffic movements defined the major legs as the north and east legs with the west leg being the minor leg. It was identified to have a medium priority for action in the ICBC report. The recommendation is that a stop sign and road markings be installed on Gosper Crescent (front of 1090 on the west leg). See Attachment A for location map and Traffic Order.
