Recommendation
That Council:
a) Approve Traffic Order 1344 for "Bus Stop" on the south side of Lyall Street commencing at a point 9m east of the extension of Macaulay Street and extending 23m east; and
b) Rescind Traffic Order 664 for "Bus Stop" on the south side of Lyall Street.

BACKGROUND:
Lyall Street is a residential collector road in the southern portion of the Township of Esquimalt. Lyall is a two-lane road with parking on both sides of the roadway. BC Transit operates the #25 bus route through the neighbourhood along Lyall Street. Due to the recent installation of centre median bollards at the intersection of Macaulay Street and Lyall Street, it was noted by residents that the bus zone did not provide sufficient length to allow the bus to safely leave the stop if a vehicle was parked adjacent to the bus stop. Upon review, the stop did not meet BC Transit guidelines for bus stop length.
ISSUES:
1. Rationale for Selected Option
To provide adequate space for BC Transit egress, staff propose extending the zone by 8m. This will decrease the available parking by just over a single parking space. Due to the limited use of parking along this portion of the south side of Lyall Street, this change is not expect to negatively impact parking availability.
These changes will be achieved through paint changes and the implementation or rescinding of the following Traffic Orders:
