BACKGROUND:
The HeroWork Program Society assists other charities with the renewal of their existing physical infrastructure through a program called Radical Renovations. This program involves the coordination and leverage of funds, resources and people to transform buildings used by charitable organizations at a fraction of traditional costs and time.
The Society is seeking assistance with costs relating to the improvement of the physical infrastructure located within 500 Admirals Road. Renovation of this location, currently used by the Esquimalt United Church, the Rainbow Kitchen and other community non-profit organizations, is being designed to increase efficiencies, decrease utility and maintenance costs and allow for expanded service delivery.
ISSUES:
1. Rationale for Selected Option
Council Policy ADMIN-32 - Local Grants allows unallocated local grant funds to be issued throughout the year as determined by Council in response to formal requests. The determination of the actual amount granted remains at the discretion of Council.
