SUBJECT: Membership Update
INFORMATION:
In accordance with Council Policy ADMIN-40, provided for information as Attachment 1, recruitment to fill one existing Youth Representative vacancy and one upcoming Youth Representative vacancy on the Environment, Parks, and Recreation Advisory Committee was conducted from May 1st to June 1st, 2025.
As outlined in Council Policy No. ADMIN-60, provided for information as Attachment 2, the term of Youth Representative positions is for one standard academic year, running from September 1st to June 30th. Eligible Youth Representatives, as defined in the policy, are individuals who:
* are between the ages of 13-18; and
* are residents of Esquimalt or are in full-time attendance at a school located within the boundaries of Esquimalt.
At the close of recruitment, four new Youth Representative applications were received for the Environment, Parks, and Recreation Advisory Committee. All applicants meet the appointment criteria of the vacant positions. At the time of writing, Council has reviewed the Youth Representative applications and scheduled interviews to take place during the June 23rd In Camera council meeting. The appointed Youth Representatives are expected to begin their term on September 1st, 2025, and the Committee will be notified once appointments are confirmed.
One of the Youth Representative vacancies results from the conclusion of Member Ryan Badowski's term on June 30, 2025. During their time on the Committee, Ryan has been an engaged and thoughtful member, contributing valuable perspectives that reflect the interests and priorities of youth in the community. Staff would like to extend sincere thanks to Ryan for their time, dedication, and commitment to the Committee, and wish them all the best in his future endeavors.
