TOWNSHIP OF ESQUIMALT MEMORANDUM
MEETING DATE: March 16, 2026 Report No. SI-26-008
TO: Council
FROM: Judy Kitts, Director, Strategic Initiatives
SUBJECT: Proposed Amendments to Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw
INFORMATION:
The Department of Strategic Initiatives recently reviewed the consolidated Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw 2839 and identified that, over the last year, updates made to related bylaws were not consistently reflected in the consolidated version. As a result, a comprehensive set of revisions is now being proposed to ensure the BON Bylaw is accurately aligned with all amendments made to other bylaws during that period. These updates will restore consistency across the bylaw framework and support improved accuracy moving forward.
Council is requested to consider giving three readings to Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw, 2014, No. 2839, Amendment Bylaw, 2026, No. 3185 to bring the Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw into alignment with the newly enacted provisions for construction noise in Bylaw No. 2826.
Should Council wish to amend Bylaw No. 2839 as proposed, the following motion is recommended:
That Council give three readings to Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw, 2014, No. 2839, Amendment Bylaw, 2026, No. 3185.
If Council gives three readings to Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw, 2014, No. 2839, Amendment Bylaw, 2026, No. 3185, final reading and adoption will occur at the next Council meeting scheduled to be held on April 13, 2026
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
That Council give three readings to Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw, 2014, No. 2839, Amendment Bylaw, 2026, No. 3185.
