MEETING DATE: December 15, 2025 Report No. EPW-25-019

TO: Council
FROM: Charles Davie, Manager of Engineering
SUBJECT: Cunningham Road - Residential Parking Only

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation
That Council approve the implementation of Traffic Order 1387 for "Residential Parking Only" signage to be installed on both sides of Cunningham Road commencing 9m north of the intersection of Cunningham Road and Kindersley Road and extending north to 9m south of the intersection of Cunningham Road and Parklands Drive as set out in EPW-25-019.
Body

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The purpose of this report is to implement Residential Parking Only on Cunningham Road.

BACKGROUND:

Cunningham Road is a residential local road with a streetscape comprised of single-family homes. There are currently no parking restrictions on Cunningham Road.

The Township has received a request for the implementation of residential only parking from the residents. Their concern is that non-resident vehicles have been occupying the roadway from nearby businesses/employers. See Attachment 1 for Traffic Order and site map.

ANALYSIS:

In accordance with Council Policy E&PW-03 Township Guide to Parking Restrictions (Guide), the lead resident undertook the canvassing of the residents on the street.

The results of the survey are:
* Number of properties canvassed: 22 of 22 (100%)
* Test 1 - 100% of properties canvassed
* Number of properties signed the petition: 22 of 22 (100%)
* Test 2 -100% of properties signed the petition

See Attachment 2 for Parking Petition. As per the Guide, the petition meets both tests for a parking restriction to be implemented. Until actions in the Township's Integrated Parking Management Strategy are implemented, Council directed staff "to continue processing requests for Residential Only Parking using the current process outlined in the Township's Guide to Traffic Calming until a Permit Parking process is in place."
