BACKGROUND:
Each year, pursuant to its Council Policy No. ADMIN-29 Local Grants - Esquimalt High School, the distribution of local grant funding to Esquimalt High School is approved. At its June 1, 2015 meeting, Council approved an initial distribution of the 2015 Local Grant budget, which included funding of up to $2,750.00 for the Esquimalt High School’s Athletics Program, should they apply. The Council Policy requires a representative of the athletics teams to appear before Council to request funding for travel costs related to tournaments or competitions.
An application for funding has been submitted by the Esquimalt High School Athletics Program. Representatives from Esquimalt High School wish to appear before Council to request the amount of $2,750.00 in local grant funding allotted within the Council Policy.
A copy of the Council Policy and the grant application has been included for your reference.
ISSUES:
1. Rationale for Selected Option
During the approval of the 2015 Local Grants, an amount of $2,750.00 was allotted for the Esquimalt High School Athletics Program within Council Policy No. ADMIN-29. An application has been received and a representative has confirmed their intent to appear before Council.

There are no organizational implications of this decision.
3. Financial Implications
The total requested fund amount of $2,750.00 has been allotted within the Council Policy, however no funds have been issued to date in 2015. Any funds approved by Council will be subsequently forwarded to the applicant in the form of cheque payment.

There are no sustainability or environmental implications of this decision.
5. Communication & Engagement
Within 120 days of project completion, the recipients will be requested to submit a brief report which will include an evaluation of the project, the number of participants and the impact on the community.
